Tenderloin Lemon Grove

The greening of San Francisco’s Tenderloin is getting a big boost thanks to the support of Segment Inc. and 50 Just One Tree lemon trees that have landed in the urban environment. With a home base for safekeeping and growing at the Demonstration Gardens under the green thumbs of Kasey Asberry and her environmental interns at the UC Hastings Greening program, these 50 JOT trees are being planted in various Tenderloin community locations. In November of 2016, local children (pictured below) helped out during a planting event to spruce up the front of a Tenderloin housing location with JOT trees:

Kasey Asberry (pictured left surrounded by 50 JOT trees) is at the helm of  the Demonstrations Gardens where the trees are nurtured before finding new homes throughout the neighborhood.

The Demonstration Gardens (pictured below) is blooming with inspiration as a place where people are putting plenty of heart and hard work into keeping nature alive in San Francisco’s Tenderloin.
