New School Gardens at James Lick Middle School

It was the latest beautiful feat in Climate Action Now!‘s (CAN!) mission to convert pavement into urban organic gardens: On Saturday, October 28, 2017 a formidable crew of volunteers hustled under the guidance of CAN! to transform the blacktop at James Lick Middle School into a site for two new school gardens.

The work day in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood school moved small mountains of soil and mulch alongside planter boxes and massive wood blocks. When all the natural puzzle pieces came together, three Just One Tree lemon trees were planted amidst the organic terrain.
